Course Description:Garland Ranch Regional Park offers a welcoming introduction to the region's remarkable tree diversity, from sculpted Coast Live Oaks to towering Coast Redwoods. So many of our local species, such as Santa Lucia Fir and Gowen Cypress, are found nowhere else but in our region. Join us as we learn practical techniques for identifying species—how to read leaf shapes, bark patterns, branching structure, fruit types, and habitats. We'll practice our new skills bringing the local forest landscape vividly to life. Our exploration will consist of a 1-2 mile walk with 200 feet of elevation change. |
