Course Description:

We know that marine protected areas (MPAs) help fish populations rebound by keeping people out and letting nature take the lead. But what happens when the protection isn't intentional? Around the globe, examples of such de facto protection are on the rise. This talk dives into one such place, San Clemente Island off the coast of San Diego, where 15 years of limited access has given scientists a rare look at how the ocean can heal itself.
