Course Description:Women are often overlooked from two important art movements: Impressionism and Abstract Expressionism. Today, while male contemporaries like Monet, Manet, Pollock, and de Kooning are household names, far fewer are familiar with Morisot, Bracquemond, Hartigan, or Krasner. These women and many others dared to enter the male-dominated world of painting—not as muses but as artists. From their studios in Paris or their cold-water lofts in New York City, these pioneers burst open the door to the art world for themselves and countless others. |
