Course Description:Join us for this in-depth exploration of current women's issues through the lens of three timely, thought-provoking films. The first revisits photos from the 1970s that captured women embracing feminism by shedding cultural restrictions and includes fascinating interviews relating firsthand experiences with identity, abortion, race, childhood, and motherhood. The second film examines Hollywood's unprecedented eye-opening depiction of transsexual people and the impact it has on both the transgender community and American culture. The final film highlights women coming together to figure out how they might move forward to build a better world for themselves and their children. These films serve as the backdrop of this interactive course to generate lively discussion on current issues and possible strategies for change. |
