Course Description:Kelly Reichardt is an internationally acclaimed film director whose work reflects a unique cinematic vision of the American West, through historical and fictional tales of characters facing the challenges of life's uncertainties, while fearlessly pursuing their dreams. In this offering, we will focus on four films that represent Reichardt's wide-ranging scope of interests, while examining her oeuvre, discussing the important place she holds in the pantheon of American independent filmmaking. |

Karen Davis is Senior Film Programmer for the Mill Valley Film Festival. She is Professor Emerita at CSUMB and has taught courses in world cinema and cultural studies at Cal State Monterey Bay, UC Santa Cruz, St. Mary's College and Vassar College.
