Course Description:

Amalia Mesa-Bains will share a series of postcards illuminating background narratives on the artworks from her recent retrospective exhibit "Archeology of Memory" at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Institute. These narratives present little-known details of ten of the major pieces including the "Venus Envy" series as well as some of the homages to key Latino figures and events. The details will be accompanied by the images as she reveals the origins of the pieces, research histories and cultural memories.
