Course Description:

On the cusp of a momentous presidential election, we’ll look back at key films about American politics and elections. We’ll view and discuss four films from the past few decades to see how filmmakers have presented what the founders called “the sovereignty of the people.”

Facilitator:

Renée R. Curry, Ph.D., recently retired as a full professor in the School of Humanities and Communication at Cal State Monterey Bay. She has published and edited three books as well as numerous articles and reviews on literature and film.

William Brigham, M.S.W., M.A., has been writing about and teaching film from the perspectives of sociology, psychology and critical studies for 40 years. His "Historical Dictionary of Woody Allen" was published in August 2019.
