Course Description:

Mesoamerican civilizations have been largely overlooked by scholars and the public alike. Misconceptions and mysteries pervade general knowledge and opinions concerning the cultures that resided in the Middle American isthmus. In reality, ideas, innovations, institutions, and fundamentals created within these societies are unique and important to the history of humanity. Join us as we explore the ancient Olmec, Maya and Aztec civilizations and examine the origins, ideology, society and culture of each from the perspective of archaeological projects, ethnohistorical studies and art interpretation.
