Course Description:

In the world of popular music, “axe” is a slang term for the instrument a musician uses, including a vocalist’s voice. Join us as we use the medium of axes to explore how the blues have been approached by different guitarists, keyboardists, blues harpists, saxophone players, and vocalists. We'll revisit some artists we’ve heard before, but will also take this opportunity to hear artists not previously considered. Those new to the series are welcome to join the veterans as we continue to explore and honor this marvelous gift to popular music from African American culture.
