Course Description:

Composer Samuel Barber is one of the most significant American composers of the twentieth century. Twice awarded the Pulitzer Prize in music, his most popular piece, "Adagio for Strings," has become a recognizable part of the fabric of American culture. Composer and pianist Rick Yramategui explores Barber’s life and work through his compositions—both large symphonic works and shorter, more intimate pieces for voice and piano.

Course will be presented live at CSUMB Ryan Ranch (8 Upper Ragsdale Road, Monterey) and will NOT be recorded or available for viewing later. Seats are limited.

Rick Yramategui is a UCC minister, teacher, composer, and pianist. He teaches ragtime for the Road Scholar program at Hidden Valley Music Seminars. Rick has been privileged to participate in the Oregon Bach Festival Composers Symposium and the European American Musical Alliance in Paris, France.
