Course Description:

Join us for a fresh new series of inspiring conversations with three nationally renowned artists, moderated by Brian Taylor. We’ll begin with Klea McKenna, famous for capturing light sensitive images of ghostlike, handrubbed textures in nature, like the delicate surfaces of old growth tree rings in moonlight. Klea’s recent exhibition at SFMOMA filled a room with sun exposed prints on antique fabrics carrying the auras of previous owners. In our second meeting, we’ll explore the innovative artworks of Binh Danh, known for printing hauntingly spiritual images on leaves by the action of photosynthesis. Binh currently travels the country in a “darkroom van," often as the first photographer to record that region with the antiquated Daguerreotype process. In our third gathering, Brian Taylor will present an overview of his own creative work for the first time as part of an OLLI offering and looks forward to an engaging conversation about leading a life in the arts.
