Course Description:A great way to gain an understanding of the evolution of the blues is to explore the paths of a few individual artists over the length of their careers. From their early days playing on street corners and the Chitlin' Circuit to their days of big recording contracts and playing major venues, we’ll review the lives and lifework of such artists as B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Ray Charles, and Etta James. We’ll enjoy some biographical stories, some well-known songs, and some rarities too. This will be Brian Simmons' seventh blues series for OLLI and offers something for new participants and veterans alike. |
