Course Description:

Mammals living in the marine environment have developed adaptations to their physiology and behaviors that allow them to survive in the cold Pacific Ocean. In this introductory course, you'll learn how they thrive in this challenging environment, from withstanding the crushing pressure of the deep sea, to finding mates and searching for prey in the dark ocean, to keeping warm and dry in the waves. We'll begin our exploration with an enlightening lecture before venturing out into the field with a tour of Moss Landing Marine Labs to view these fascinating specimens firsthand.
