Course Description:

You are invited to a meeting with great works of art as viewed through an entertaining narrated visual presentation. Each of the three sessions will focus on several different artists and their works. First, we’ll look at "real people" as seen in portraits and self-portraits from the Renaissance to the present. Then we’ll travel to "real places" such as Toulouse-Lautrec’s Paris in the Belle Epoque. Finally, we’ll enter the world of "dream people and places" in works from the Surrealists and others. The emphasis won’t be on the historical and technical facts, but rather on what we SEE in the work itself. With the joy of experiencing the masterpieces comes a deeper connection with the artists—and often with ourselves and how we see our world.
