Course Description:

Join us as we journey together to the world of Rumi. In our first session, we'll explore an overview of Rumi's life and his historical and religious context. In our second meeting, selected poems will be recited to the accompaniment of cellist Robin Keeler. During our final session, participants are invited to share their favorite Rumi poem with the class. Themes that will emerge are ecstatic love, spirit, soul, truth, and wisdom.

Course will be presented live at CSUMB Ryan Ranch (8 Upper Ragsdale Road, Monterey) and will NOT be recorded or available for viewing later. Seats are limited.

Facilitator:

NĂ¼khet Kardam, Ph.D., is Professor Emerita at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey and a student of Melami Sufism. Joseph C. Cotham, Ph.D., leads an annual poetry retreat for the Monterey Meditation Group and has taught at MIIS, Monterey Peninsula College and Sacramento State.
