Course Description:One could say that the story of popular music is one of great singers—but it is also the story of great vocal groups. In this course, we will take a trip through six different eras and genres, examining in depth 24 legendary singing groups, from the days of doowop through the pop era; stars whose power, style and passion gave us unforgettable records. We will also listen to and watch performances from other singing groups who will each be remembered for one huge hit that still resonates to this day. With a nod to choral harmonies, unique vocal arrangements and unmistakable, unforgettable trademark songs, this offering promises to be much more than a trip down Memory Lane. |
