Course Description:

Why have so many ardent readers not heard of Gerald Murnane? In 2018 the "New York Times" described him as “the greatest living English-language writer most people have never heard of.” International critics have often neglected him, but Australians know that if you want to explore postmodern transcendence, metaphysical parables, terrains of the mind, the infinity of words, and the line between literature and philosophy, then Murnane is your man. We’ll read his large collection of short fiction, "Stream System," and revel in an intellect capable of changing how we think about literature.
