Course Description:

Throughout history, mystics have been an integral part of many spiritual paths. This course will focus on mystics from three faith traditions: Islam, Judaism and Christianity. After exploring the concept of mysticism common principles, and the path of the mystic, we will draw on the lives of several mystics to illustrate their core teachings and the way they lived these common principles. We will examine how they have influenced each other, as well as how they are unique. Through this focus on the universal spiritual masters, we will also be asking ourselves the meaning of a mystical life.

Facilitator:

Anne Jimenez is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has studied the mystical path for many years through many traditions and practices.

NĂ¼khet Kardam, Ph.D., is Professor Emerita at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey and a student of Melami Sufism.

Maureen Manning is a retired acupuncturist who was raised Catholic. She is attracted to the Oneness at the source of many spiritual paths.

Jeff Schulman is co-founder and a rabbi of Kavanat HaLev (Way of the Heart) the Jewish Renewal community of the Monterey Peninsula. He is a lifelong student of Kabbalah, Jewish mysticism.
