[Past Event] Fort Ord Regional Trail | In-Person (Gentrain, MPC)

Course Description:

Since 2013, Drs. Fred Watson and Scott Waltz have been planning a recreational path that would connect the vista of Fort Ord with the ocean views of the Sanctuary Trail. After 355 meetings, 62 public presentations and meetings, and passage of Measure X, FORTAG is moving toward construction. Join these local activists as they describe their grassroots efforts to launch FORTAG and provide an update on trail progress.

Offered in collaboration with our friends at The Gentrain Society, this lecture will be held in Lecture Forum 103 at Monterey Peninsula College from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Friends and family are welcome – free to all. Parking is $3.

Facilitator:

Fred Watson, Ph.D., is a professor of Applied Environmental Science at CSU Monterey Bay. He combines teaching, research and professional application across a range of fields including wildlife and aquatic ecology, hydrology, transportation, land use, and more.

Scott Waltz, Ph.D., is a professor of Social Foundations of Education at CSUMB, a part-time environmental activist and a former interpretive naturalist. He is vicechair of the Sierra Club, Ventana Chapter.
