Course Description:

The immune system protects us from infection through various lines of defense. It is composed primarily of various blood cell types and proteins which evolved to defend us against a wide range of pathogens and toxins. If the immune system is not functioning as it should, it can result in minor allergies or in severe cancers. In rare cases it can turn against us causing autoimmune diseases such as lupus or multiple sclerosis. Join Dr. Roger Luckenbach for an extensive look at this fascinating system of life-saving defense.
