Watershed Geology | Palo Corona Regional Park (Closed)
Course Description:Watersheds are vitally important to the natural environment as they channel rainfall, snowmelt and runoff into a common body of water. Join us as we observe the Carmel River watershed in action via a guided walk with environmental scientist Jimmy Guilinger. Along the way, we'll learn the basics of what makes a watershed, how it’s formed, and how humans and natural earth processes can change rivers, streams and wetlands. (Note: We’ll meet at the Palo Corona Discovery Center. Involves walking approximately 3 miles with an elevation change of 100 feet.) |

Facilitator:
Jimmy Guilinger, Ph.D., is a professor in the Applied Environmental Science Department at CSUMB. He teaches courses and does research about earth surface processes, also known as the "science of scenery." His field sites include rivers, landslides, eroding gullies, and coastlines.
