Course Description:

Autumn is in the air! Come and celebrate the mysterious and macabre wonders of the season. Terrifying monsters, beckonings from beyond the grave, and teetering sanity await. We'll be reading and discussing some of the classics of Gothic and post-Gothic horror and suspense from authors such as Mary Shelley, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Edgar Allan Poe, and others. We'll reach back to the Graveyard Poets and the first Gothic Novels and then forward to the early 20th century with interesting background information on the authors, their historical and political influences, and their undeniably chilling tales.
