Course Description:

Join Gary Shapiro for a journey through the wild 1960s, a decade that saw the greatest changes in the history of American popular culture. It was an era in which the stars of the first half of the 20th century were faced with the onslaught of rock and a youth culture that shifted the tastes and styles for the next fifty years. Journey from Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, from The Greatest Generation to Flower Power and the hippies.

Facilitator:

Gary Shapiro has been an educator for 30 years and teaches Film Appreciation and Broadcast History at Monterey Peninsula College. A broadcaster for over four decades, he is the longtime host of "From the Bookshelf," a radio program featuring interviews with authors and celebrities.
