Course Description:You are invited to join the fun of up-close-and-personal encounters with great world art. Experiencing the masterpieces brings a deeper connection with the artists—and often with ourselves and how we see our world. Each session will focus on a theme and how it was expressed by several different artists. This Spring we will look at how artists described places from California to New York to Europe and beyond. Then the spotlight will be on how women have been portrayed in art from the Egyptians to the Renaissance to Impressionists to today. Finally, following the advice to always leave them laughing, we’ll get some giggles looking at humor in art. The emphasis won’t be on historical and technical facts, but rather on what we see in the work itself. |
