Course Description:

Joan Didion said, “We tell ourselves stories in order to live,” and that’s what we do when we write together on Saturday mornings. We live on paper, in ink, via our voices and our listening. Come live with me once a month—whether you consider yourself a writer or not—and tell the stories you most need to tell, most especially the stories you didn’t know you needed to write, the memories you thought had been lost, the poems you couldn’t have even dreamed up before the moment that we sit together—yes, even on Zoom, this is truly what we do. And the magic happens. Though I’ve led writing workshops for over 40 years(!), I still can’t explain it except to say, writing in community is magic. Together we write ourselves into being our deepest, most true, most complicated selves, and we are accepted, trusted and loved for exactly the words that find us those mornings.

Facilitator:

Patrice Vecchione’s recent essay "These Pandemic Grays" can be found in the winter issue of Catamaran Literary Reader. When she’s not at her desk with fingers on the keyboard, Patrice is teaching, petting her cats, digging in the garden, volunteering for her city, lacing up her hiking boots, loving somebody, cooking supper for her best beloved, turning over in her sleep or turning the pages of a book.
