Course Description:Stem cell research holds great promise for understanding and curing many maladies, including diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord injury, vision disease, and other debilitating conditions. However, embryonic, fetal, or genetically modified human stem cells can pose complex ethical and policy issues. Furthermore, rapidly evolving scientific developments have introduced new and unanticipated ethical challenges. Dr. Sidney Golub examines what stem cells are, their groundbreaking applications, and the areas of contention as he lends his considerable expertise to this exploration of a fascinating new world of science. |
