Course Description:

To better understand this complex, isolated nation, immerse yourself in Iranian cinema flourishing amidst heavy censorship. Experience the seamless blend of documentary and fiction in Abbas Kiarostami's "Ten". Explore Asghar Farhadi's Oscar-winning "Separation" which examines interpersonal relationships within broader societal issues. Contemplate Mohammad Rasoulof's thought-provoking cinematic masterpiece "There Is No Evil," revealing profound moral dilemmas faced by individuals living under oppressive systems. Discover Ms. Rakhshān Banietemad's exploration of family dynamics and socio-economic struggles in "Under the Skin of the City." You'll gain a deeper understanding of Iran through these films as well as discussion and critical analysis.
