Course Description:Pulitzer Prize and Oscar winner Frank Loesser wrote five Broadway musicals but, long before his success along the Great White Way, he composed dozens of songs for Hollywood movies. Loesser was nominated for five Academy Awards for Best Original Song, winning for "Baby, It's Cold Outside." Many of his hit-parade favorites became oft-requested standards, including the all-time classic "Heart and Soul." Join us as we view a classic Loesser movie musical and three of his stage musicals that were made into films: "Hans Christian Anderson," "Where’s Charley," "Guys and Dolls," and "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying." We’ll meet at the historic Lighthouse Cinema in Pacific Grove to watch them on the big screen with popcorn, drinks, cookies, and snacks available for purchase. |
