In this engaging and accessible offering, Dr. Arun Sharma will explore the fascinating world of artificial intelligence (AI). AI has taken the world by storm, impacting numerous fields including business, healthcare and education. But many of us still have questions about this emerging and mysterious technology. We'll begin by unraveling the basics of AI, explaining what it is, how it works, and why it has become a buzzword in today's digital age. We'll then delve into its practical applications and address common misconceptions and fears. Finally, the ethical considerations and societal implications of the technology will be discussed.

Facilitator:

Arun Sharma, Ph.D., is a professor of chemistry at CSU Monterey Bay. Last year, the university honored him with an Outstanding Teaching Award. His research interests include applications of machine learning and AI to chemistry and he has developed courses in scientific computing and computational chemistry. He earned a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from USC.
